Cornelia – I loved your essay. I particularly. enjoyed the theme questioning why people embrace the symbols of death turned into a joke, the connection to what is happening in politics today, and the connection to being a parent raising a young child in this world.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much, Cornelia! I miss the wonderful discussions you led so well. I’m mostly reading fiction these days, needing/wanting to escape. A few notables: This is How it Always Is by Laurie Frankel, the Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbach, and most recently, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer/Annie Barrows. The latter is such an old goodie.
Over the summer I read Tom Lake by Ann Patchett; I was glad to see it in your monthly reading update.
Another great one. Ready for my first trick-or-treaters and remembering how much I loved it as a kid and still love. Thus the “fire” crackling on the tv. Trying to elicit cozy in 80 degrees!
This brought such a smile to my face as I was preparing to welcome our town trick-or-treaters yesterday evening! The temps weren't ideal, but spirits were high!
